Here it is ladies and gentlemen the day we have been waiting for. Finally, Gran Turismo fans will be able to test out the much anticipated game, Gran Turismo Sport! Players will get an exclusive sneak peak at the future of racing games in this closed Beta.
Yes, you read that right. I said closed Beta. That is because not all GT fans will get to try out GT Sport, but only a select few from the US… Not exactly the dream demo, but at least some will be able to try it while the rest of us can watch what it will be like to play.
The way it works is players can select a different rotation of certain cars and tracks each day and race them against others. Every day the tracks and cars will change, but will be from all different classes to allow many configurations.
Players will be able to see and set up their Driver Profile as well as see the entire user interface. Also, a new introduction of Sportsmanship ratings will be a part of GT Sport. No more worrying about who is an idiot and who is actually their to race anymore. Sportsmanship rating will track a players behaviour and manners during play. Another new tracking statistic is Driver Rating. This will track the basics like how fast you have gone, overall performance in races, and more. These statistics will be analyzed and determine who you will race against.
How to Sign Up
The closed Beta starts on March 17, and is ONLY open to the US (disappointing). However, to find out if you are selected make sure to check your PS4 dashboard messages after you have applied.
The good news is if you are not selected you still have a chance later. For them to gather more data they will be slowly expanding the Beta to more people and countries. Phase two will be Europe where you can already submit your PSN.
If you are interested in participating, and live in the US, head to the Beta page to apply. When you are selected there will be certain times throughout the day when races will be held. However, those of you who are not selected for the Beta can still sign up for future updates.
If you are upset that you don’t live in the US, and won’t be able to play, there is still hope. You can create a fake US PSN and sign up with that. No guarantees you’ll get in, but better than waiting forever. Of course, for any of these sign ups you must have a PS4 as GT Sport is only for PS4.
Although the Beta may not be a full on world wide demo it still means the full game is coming. No one knows exactly when just yet, but get your PS4 wheel and racing wheel stand ready as GT Sport is coming soon!
