Gran Turismo 6 came out on December 5, 2013, almost exactly two years ago from today, and heading into it’s third year. However, if you don’t already own GT6, should you buy it for 2016? Anyone who has ever played a Gran Turismo game already knows it’s pretty fun and GT6 is no different. However, the main problem with getting GT6 now is Gran Turismo 7 will be released soon. The problem is, currently, we don’t know the exact GT7 release date.
Taking in all the information about GT7, and the fact that Gran Turismo Sport will come out in April 2016, I would imagine GT7 won’t come out until late 2016, or early 2017. Either way, it’s basically a full year away. That means you’ll still have roughly a year of playing GT6 left. Plus, you’ll have to buy a PS4 to play GT7, or GT Sport, which is a lot more added cost if you don’t already own a PS4.
However, a year isn’t a ton of time, but for the under $20 price Amazon is selling GT6 for, it’s a no brainer you should pick it up. Gran Turismo 6 has pretty good graphics, the standard cars from GT5 look much better, the online is pretty fun, and like I said, it’s cheap.
Another big reason to pick it up is the course maker. If you have a tablet (or computer), you can install course maker and make your own custom tracks then play them in the GT6 universe. I have made a few tracks you can download to try for yourself (sign in first), and I have to say, it’s awesome. You can even take a picture of a real track and recreate it to play in GT6. To me, this is pretty revolutionary as the players no longer have to rely on the gaming developers to make a track, they can just make it themselves. For the current price of GT6, this feature alone is worth trying out. You can literally create any track you want just like I did in the video below.
Another reason is I have tons of tunes you can try. If you are bored of racing, why not giving drifting a try? For all these reasons, I highly suggest you pick up Gran Turismo 6 if you don’t have it already. Even if you only play it once in a while, especially if you have a wheel, it’s just fun.
